One of the hardest things about graduating last May was going from an organized and structured life with goals to the complete opposite. After 4 months of job searching, I was lucky enough to land a decent (decent in this economy and my location) paying job with nice people and wonderful hours. After another 2 months of adjusting to the work routine and ins-&-outs of the job, I FINALLY feel like I know what's going on.
The best part about this comfort? Adding major training back in to the picture. I had been ramping up for Wineglass and Philly but those did not work out for several reasons. The best part now is that I feel adjusted to living here and my job, so now I can add serious running back in and look forward to all the running that the rest of 2009 and 2010!!!
Monday was my 1 year anniversary of becoming a marathoner, and I cannot believe how much is changed in the year. Training and running the race helped me so much with finishing everything senior year (especially when it came to thesis-ing). My outlook, motivation, and respect for my body that I received post 26.2 miles is something that I treasure and use every single day. It's nice to be back in the saddle, and I'm glad that even though I didn't run a single race between Philly '08 and Monday, I'm happy with the growth I've had and I'm excited to be back in the routine of it all.

ah....
what a feelin'!
i had a wonderful post-work five miler, and i'm so glad that i decided to do it. not only did i beat the horrible urge to opt out of my run because "i'm too tired" or "work was too hard today", but i really pushed myself on the entire run!!! i love really working hard on a run - it makes the end of the run feel so much better when you know you've given everything you got!
to sweeten the situation, it is time to make delicious chili and watch my other favorite type of marathon - law and order svu!

looks like a post-work run
it was too cold to get up this morning to train (so much for 5:30am!) so it looks like today's training will take place AFTER work. sometimes it is just TOO WARM in bed to get up!
